In the conventional amplitude modulation scheme, a portion of the sinusoidal carrier is added to the DSB-SC AM sinal, which reatl! simplif! the demodulation process.Conventional Amplitude Modulation used the same messae and carrier sinal in thisexperiment. A double sideband suppressed carrier DSB-SC# sinal is obtained b! multipl!inthe messae sinal with the carrier sinal thus the messae sinal fre$uenc! in this sinal is %&&'() sine wave with *+ of +pp and the carrier fre$uenc! is selected as && '() with + of +pp.or the process of the modulation in the experiment based on the waveform in raph% c# the amplitude modulation shifts the spectrum of the modulatin sinal directl! to the carrier wave. /hen carrier fre$uenc! is lare relative to the bandwidth of messae sinal, the envelopeis a smooth sinal that passes throuh the positive pea's of modulation sinal and it can beviewed as modulatin chanin# the amplitude of the carrier wave in a wa! related to messaesinal. As for the demodulation, li'e DSB-SC, a conventional AM sinal can be demodulated b!means of coherent demodulator which re$uires a locall! enerated carrier that is s!nchroni)edwith the carrier used for modulation at the transmitter. Because the envelope of the modulatedsinal retains the shape of the messae sinal, the demodulation of AM sinal can alternativel! be accomplished b! usin a simple envelope detector. But in this experiment as for the raph% d#, students didn0t et the expected wave as it miht be some s!stematic error on the machineused.
