  Skeletal Muscle Cells   By Lizbeth Natalie Corona Didyouknowthatthereare656musclesinour  body,and600ofthemareusedtomoveyour skeleton?Whenyoumove,skeletalmusclecells makesuretohelpyou.Buttheyneedhelp,sothen strongflexiblecordscalledtendonshelpthesecells connecttobones.Tendonsattachtoonepartof  themusclethatisstableandtheotherend attachestoapartthatcanmove.Thetendonsare formedbyhavingfibrouselastictissuecalled epimysiumthatprotectsthemusclefromfriction againstothermusclesandbones.Assoonas tendonshelpskeletalmusclecellsreachthebone, itisresponsibletogiveanimpulsefromanerve cellthatwaytheboneknowsithastomove.The  waythemusclereceivestheimpulseisbecauseof  connectivetissuesthatprovideinternalsupport andcommunicateswiththe2factorsinwhich  bloodcirculates:nervesandbloodvessels. Capillariesallowthese2factorstoconnectbecause oftheirthickstringshapesinbetweeneach skeletalmusclecell.Anartery,whichisusedto carryawaybloodfromtheheartathighpressure andatleastonevein,whichreturnsbloodtothe heartatlowpressure,arelocatedineachnerve that eventually penetrates in a skeletal muscle. Eachmuscleismadeupoffascicles,whichare  bundlesofnervesandmusclefiberssurroundedby  connectivetissuecalledtheendomysium.Allof  thattogetherissurroundedbyalayerof  connective tissue called perimysium. However, the fasciculicanvarydependingonthemuscle.For example,thoseinthehandwouldcontainfar fewerfibresperfasciculi.Buttheaveragefibres thatfasciculicontainisbetween10and100of  them.EachmusclefibercontainsgroupsofActin andMyosinproteinswhichareimportantbecause theygivecellmovement,allowingskeletalmuscle cells move to the bone. Thereare3typesofskeletalmusclecells:slowtype I,fasttypeIIa,andfasttypeIIb.TheslowtypeIis redanditisusedwhentherearelow-level contractionssuchaswhenyou’rewalkingbecause ithasthehighestresistancetofatigue.The pathwayforthistypeistheAerobiccellular respiration.Someoftheareaswheretheyare locatedaretheposturalmusclessuchastheneck  andspine,includingthelegmuscles.Thefasttype IIaisredtoo,butitisusedwhenyouaredoing activitiesinvolvingspeedandpowersuchasfast runningandweighttraining.Thepathwaysin  whichtheproductionsfallinareboththeaerobic andanaerobic.Thistypeislocatedinlegmuscles. ThefasttypeIIbiswhite,itisusedwhenyoudo heavyweighttraining,powerliftingandlong distancesprints.Thistypecanhandlethisactivity   becauseithasahigherresistancetofatigue.Ituses theanaerobicpathwayonlyandarelocatedinarm muscles.Inconclusion,differenttypesoffibres thatformspecificmusclesvaryaccordingtohow  themuscleisused.So,nexttimeyoumovea musclethinkabouthowmanythingsinsideyour  body are contributing to make that happen.
