Operating Principles The Model 24 Snap Acting Relay is a highlyaccurate differential relay with snap-actingswitching.The output of the unit will go tosupply pressure when the signal is equal toor greater than the setpoint. The signalpressure must fall below the set point toreturn the output to zero. Figure 1 illustrates a configurationwhich uses a pneumatic signal for setpoint which may or may not be biasedby the adjusting screw. In this case, theadjustment adds to the pneumatic sig-nal.Should the set point and the oper-ating signal be switched, the biasadjustment would subtract from the setpoint signal. To determine whether aNormally Open or Normally Closedvalve is required, not that when B plusspring bias is greater than signal at A port, a Normally Open unit has an out-put, while a Normally Closed unit doesnot. In Figure 2 the unit is shown with aseparate supply option (SS) to indicateuse of the unit when the supply is acontrol signal such as 3-15 psig or anypressure less than 10 psig.
