All a job interview does is give employers thechance to meet you and see if they like you enough to give you a job. Simples. Get it right andyou could end up with a great job, get it wrong and youll have to live with unemployment or arole you hate for a bit longer A job interview is a conversation which occurs between a potential employer and a jobapplicant. !uring the job interview, the employer hopes to determine whether or not theapplicant is suitable for the job, while the applicant tries to learn more about the position whilealso impressing the employer. As a general rule, a job interview is an important part of the process of applying for a job, and it may range in formality from a casual conversation to a seriesof serious discussions with an assortment of people working within the company. f a job applicant manages to land a job interview, it indicates that the employer has at least someinterest.#ypically, an applicant responds to an advertised  job opening, providing a resume andother re$uested materials. #he employer or a representative reviews all received applications,and decides who should be invited back for an interview. A job interview typically precedesthe hiring decision. #he interview is usually preceded by the evaluation of  submitted r%sum%s from interested candidates, possibly by e&amining job applications or reading many resumes. 'e&t, after this screening, a small number of candidates for interviews is selected. 1  (otential job interview opportunities also include networking events and career fairs. #he jobinterview is considered one of the most useful tools for evaluating potential employees. II.PURPOSE OF THE JOB INTERVIEW #he purpose of the interview is for the company to get a good look at you. t is thecompanys chance to ask you $uestions about your work e&perience. t is the companysopportunity to see if you would fit in with the other employees. #he interview is also your opportunity to look at the company. )ou get to ask $uestions about the companys business. t isyour opportunity to see if the company suits you. n the *+s when a company needed workers, they would put a sign outside the building. f the sign read- #all /en 'eeded0, there would be no reason for you to apply if youdidnt reach the mark on the door. f you owned a mill and needed a man to work with thegrinding stones, the interview would consist of your e&amination of the applicants hands. #hehand that worked the stones would be rough and would have stone embedded in it. III.THE TYPES OF INTERVIEW Someone asks you lots of $uestions and you answer them 1 easy, right2 3ell, it would beif all job interviews were the same4 unfortunately, they are not. nterviews vary and you shouldmake sure you5re prepared for the one you5re actually attending. #here are two basic types of interviews-*.Screening nterview ã !etermines whether the candidate is in or out. ã !oes the candidate have the skills necessary to perform the job2 2  ã 6uestions are designed to collect facts. ã 7lear and concise answers are looked for.#his is usually done by reading the applications and the resumes. Sometimes thisscreening will be conducted over the telephone and video call 8skype9.3hen a company open for a position. #hey all looked great from the applications andresumes. #he position re$uired e&cellent telephone skills. She:he decided to call each personfirst. All of candidates were taken out of the running because of the way they answered their telephones.
